This video is amazing ! While doing some bass fishing an osprey dive bombs on my hooked bass right at my feet ! I’ve never seen a hawk , eagle , falcon or any other raptor type bird like this grab a hooked fish so close to a human . I wasn’t afraid of this animal but boy I tell ya , I was definitely using caution to keep from getting a talon dug into my hand or arm ! And it happened so fast you don’t necessarily know how to react . But talk about angry birds ! It was funny how this beautiful girl kept circling and was determined to take my catch from me ! You just never know when it comes to wild animals so be careful out there boys & girls !….lol…
***NOTE*** This is a “catch & release only” fishery. Keeping/harvesting a fish subjects you to a fine or arrest so I was not about to keep it to feed this osprey. Moments after this incident occurred the bird caught another fish on its own

I wondered why they didn’t jump in there and pull that fish on the shore until I realized it was a shark but that wasn’t the real reason. That must be one hungry reptile to try to steal a shark off the shore from the fishermen. Hilarious!

We hooked fish on the ice that were jumping in open water behind us numerous times. The Ice we were on was 12 inches thick and was very solid. We were also next to shore and had safety equipment avalable if need be. It was a blast.

Asian Silver Carp (also called “flying carp” for obvious reasons) make fishing easy in an Illinois river…The Silver Carp is an invasive species in North America. They tend to jump right out of the water when startled, giving them the nickname “flying carp”. Due to the extremely narrow river the engine noise traveled in front of the boat as well as behind, startling all the fish in the canal and forcing the boaters to “run the gauntlet!”
